Yongsan-District is located in the center of Seoul and consists of 16 dongs with a total area of 21.87km2. Namsan Mountain is hanging like a folding screen in the north of Yongsan, and the Han River flows around it in the south.

Yongsan has the presidential office and there are so many foreign embassies. It also has the largest number of foreigners in Korea and is designated as a special tourist zone.

Yongsan is located in the middle of Seoul, but it was not developed for various reasons such as the U.S. military unit, so the need for redevelopment is being discussed actively. As evidenced by this, the real estate prices are the highest among Gangbuk districts (the district north of the Han River). Currently, various development projects are being promoted in Yongsan as stated below.

The Yongsan U.S. military base (size: 2.55km2) was considered to be an obstacle to the development of Yongsan, and its relocation to Pyeongtaek military base has been almost completed. The long-cherished desire of the residents is to turn the Yongsan base into a park as soon as possible.

Behind Yongsan Station, a large-scale construction and development project to create the Yongsan International Business District is under way, this can be seen as the core of Yongsan redevelopment and will be a landmark of Yongsan upon completion.

The Itaewon/Hannam/Bogwang-dong area is being redeveloped in a new town manner (It's called "Hannam New Town"). When the redevelopment project in Hannam New Town is completed, the largest apartment complex along the Han River with more than 10,000 households will be built.

In addition, the plan to foster Yongsan Electronics Shopping Center as Yongsan Metabelli, an information technology (IT) mecca, and the comprehensive development plan for the former UNC Site are being promoted.

Yongsan is reorganizing its transportation system in consideration of the situation in which several large-scale development projects are underway. Currently, Yongsan Station is a transfer station on a total of three routes, but in the future, Shinbundang Line and GTX-A and GTX-B will also pass Yongsan Station, so henceforth, it will be a transfer station for six routes.

The above explanation is mainly focused on development. In summary, Yongsan is judged to be an area of great potential for the future growth and maturity in light of many opportunity areas and its dynamics.
